“All that you do must be done in love." 1 Corinthians 16:14
What a short but challenging verse! Can you honestly say that this is true of your life? I cannot. Yet it is how we are called to act towards others. Immediately I realize that sometimes my actions are more rooted in pride, selfishness, and/or obligation than love.
The Greek word used for "love" here is agape. This is the kind of love that God has towards you. It is unconditional, selfless, and sacrificial. "Agape love is always shown by what it does" (Got Questions). Jesus displayed agape love on the cross. Even in His death, He was motivated by love. And yet, we were His enemies (Romans 5:8).
So be challenged by this verse. At the same time, realize the depths of Christ's love for you.
