Laugh of the Day

John Crist always makes me laugh. In today's comedic skit, he explains why he is scared to listen to Christian music. Be prepared to laugh and maybe a little anxious to turn on KSBJ. 😊

Words of Encouragement

"Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.ā€ Romans 12:12

Among a list of ways that Paul exhorts Christians to act in Romans 12, this verse tells us to do these three things—be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer. Hope is critical in our lives. A popular saying conveys that humans cannot live a second without hope. The embodiment of hope is Jesus Christ. He paved the way that we can be forgiven of our sins and offers eternal life. Do we need any other reason to be joyful?

Each of us is faced with trials and tribulations. The hardships of life afflict us whether it is with our health, our relationships, our finances, or any other aspect of life. ā€œEven though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with meā€¦ā€ (Psalm 23:4). God never leaves us or forsakes us. We can be patient in our suffering. More than that we can trust the Lord to ā€œcause all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purposeā€ (Romans 8:28).

The only way that we can communicate with God is through prayer. We can go before Him ā€œcasting all your anxieties on Him because He cares for youā€ (1 Peter 5:7). Prayer also allows us to praise the Lord for all He has done in our lives. We are to ā€œpray without ceasingā€ (1 Thessalonians 5:17). So not only should we be faithful to pray, it is God’s will that we pray continually.
Regardless of what is going on in your life right now, you can have joy in your hope, patience while suffering, and grow closer to the Lord as you seek Him in prayer. Be intentional this May in your relationship with the Lord. With Mother’s Day, graduations, end of school year activities, we often overlook this most important relationship due to the busyness of the season.
